Şanlıurfa-Viranşehir Pumped Irrigation Project is part of Southeastern Anatolian Project (GAP). 35,558 ha of land will be irrigated by means of Şanlıurfa-Viranşehir Pumped Irrigation Project.Viranşehir Irrigation main canals are concrete lined trapezoidal canals, which are to be equipped with downstream controlled radial gates in order to save water and energy.Irrigation water distribution systems in the project are pressurized closed pipe systems where diameter varies between 100 mm to 1600 mm and pressure varies between 0.5 m to 30 m. Pipelines between 100-500 mm diameter are asbestos cement pipes and pipelines between 600-1600 mm diameter are glass reinforced plastic pipes. There are 3 pumping stations with discharge capacities varying from 8.40 to 48.50 m³/s and heads from 35 to 40 m.
