The impact of climate change on water resources and the adaptation of water-dependent sectors are crucial considerations. Another project we completed in 2023, commissioned by the Directorate General of Water Management, was the “Preparation of the Northern Aegean Basin Water Allocation Plan.” The goal of this project was to ensure the fair, efficient, and sustainable provision of water in the Northern Aegean Basin.

Through this project, we identified the current and future water needs for 11 different sectors in the basin that use water in their production processes. Taking into account environmental, social, and economic assessments for these sectors, we prepared short, medium, and long-term water allocation plans using the WEAP water allocation model under different drought scenarios. These plans will enable sectors to be better prepared for future drought conditions.
